Become a board member of Mile End Chavurah

Do you love Mile End Chavurah and want to help shape where the community goes next? Consider joining our Board.

Our Board helps guide the Chavurah’s direction and oversees areas including governance, finances, fundraising, staffing, organizational policy, and long-term planning. Board members bring a wide range of skills and experience, but you do not need to be an expert in any particular field. More than anything, we are looking for people who care about MECh and want to help keep the organization thoughtful, sustainable, and well-run.

Board members serve for one year, although many choose to stay on for additional terms.

The Board generally meets every six weeks. Depending on your role and interests, there may also be some work between meetings, such as helping liaise with a committee or supporting an event planning team.

Most Board work is focused on governance and the behind-the-scenes work that keeps MECh running. We want to make good use of the many different skills within our community, without asking Board members to do everything.

Board members may also participate in committees such as:
- Finance
- Fundraising
- Human Resources

The Board includes Co-Chairs, a Treasurer, and a Secretary, along with general Board members.

Any current Mile End Chavurah member is eligible to put their name forward.

Experience in areas such as accounting, fundraising, organizational management, law, governance, or nonprofit work can be especially useful, but it is not required. Enthusiasm for the community, good judgment, and a willingness to contribute are just as important.
